Gosport Bin Collection Days & Recycling Guide
Gosport Borough Council collects household rubbish and recycling on an alternate weekly cycle across the whole borough, including Lee-on-the-Solent and Bridgemary. Here's how to find your exact day.
Find your bin day with the council's postcode search
Gosport Borough Council covers the whole borough — Gosport town, Alverstoke, Bridgemary, Elson, Hardway, Rowner, Leesland, Brockhurst and Lee-on-the-Solent — with one waste contract. The fastest way to find your household's exact collection day is the Refuse and Recycling collection day search on the council's website: enter your postcode, pick your address, and it shows your personal schedule.
The council also publishes a printable Rubbish and Recycling Calendar each year as a PDF, which is worth keeping on the fridge if you'd rather not look it up online every time.
How the collection contract works
Waste and recycling collections across Gosport are carried out by FCC Environment on behalf of the council, which also covers street cleaning, public conveniences and some sports pavilions under the same contract. The whole borough is served by an alternate weekly kerbside collection of dry mixed recyclable materials, alongside the regular rubbish collection — check the postcode search tool above for which week is which on your street, since this varies round by round.
Bank holidays
Unlike many councils, Gosport's contract keeps crews working through all bank holidays except Christmas Day and New Year's Day. That means there's no change to your collection day over Easter or the summer bank holidays — only the Christmas period sees dates shift, and the council publishes separate Christmas collection information each year confirming the revised dates.
Missed a collection or need to report a problem?
If your bin wasn't collected on the day it should have been, contact the council's Streetscene team on Freephone 08000 198598, or by email at streetscene@gosport.gov.uk. Report it as soon as you notice, as most councils only investigate missed collections reported within a short window of the scheduled day.
Fly-tipping and bulky waste
Fly-tipping is a separate issue from a missed bin collection — see our reporting problems guide for how to report it. For large household items that won't fit in your normal bin, the council runs a paid Bulky Household Waste Collection service — check the current price list and booking process on that page before assuming a price, as bulky collection charges are reviewed periodically.
