How often does the ferry run, and how long does it take?

The Gosport Ferry crosses between South Street, Gosport (next to the bus station) and Portsmouth Harbour (next to the train station) roughly every 15 minutes, with the crossing itself taking just 4 minutes. Sailings run from 5.30am to midnight, on the same schedule seven days a week — there's no separate weekend timetable. There are no sailings on Christmas Day, with limited sailings on Boxing Day and an amended timetable on some other bank holidays, so check the current timetable if you're travelling around a holiday.

Fares (from 2 April 2026)

A standard adult return is £5.60. A child return (ages 4–15) is £3.60, and children under 4 travel free. Seniors (65+) pay the child rate of £3.60, valid after 9.30am on weekdays and at any time on weekends and bank holidays.

For regular travellers, a 10-trip ticket costs £22.40 for an adult and £12.90 for a child or senior. A 30-day season ticket is £90 for an adult. A quarterly (13-week) season ticket is £250 for an adult, £138 for a child, and £138 for a senior (again valid after 9.30am on weekdays).

Armed Forces fares are also available with a valid Armed Forces photo ID card (MOD Form 90), purchased at the ticket office: £22 for a 10-trip ticket and £85 for a 30-day season ticket.

Taking a bike, e-bike or e-scooter

Bringing a bicycle, e-bike or e-scooter costs £1.80 for a standard return, or £5.00 for a 10-trip ticket, on top of your own fare. A quarterly season ticket that includes a bicycle is £305 for an adult or £200 for a senior/child.

Motorcycles

A motorcycle standard return is £2.40, or £8.80 for a 10-trip ticket.
